Question 5:  What's really at stake?

 

Wyoming homeowners are being asked whether they should receive meaningful relief from rapidly increasing residential property taxes.
 

The initiative does not eliminate all property taxes. It does not cut every government budget by 50%. It does not automatically cut school funding by 50%. And it does not dictate that a particular number of deputies, firefighters or ambulance personnel must be eliminated.

There may be legitimate questions about how individual counties and taxing entities will adjust.

 

Those questions deserve honest answers.

But fear is not an answer.

Show us the budgets.

Show us the projections.

Show us the actual shortfalls.

Show us what alternatives have been considered.

Wyoming homeowners deserve tax relief, and they deserve government officials who will solve funding problems without using scare tactics to protect the status quo.
