Wyoming Ballot Initiatives
Question 5: Does Wyoming have the financial resources to provide homeowners meaningful property tax relief?
Wyoming has money. Lots of it.
The figures cited show approximately $1.86 billion in investment earnings in FY2025, compared with the estimated $124.8 million annual statewide reduction in property-tax collections from the initiative.
That does not mean the $1.86 billion can simply be transferred
to counties and cities dollar-for-dollar.
Different funds have different legal restrictions and purposes.
But it does demonstrate an important point:
The debate is not simply “raise homeowner property taxes or
fire departments and schools collapse.”
Wyoming has other revenues and financial resources that
policymakers can consider.
The question should be:
How do we provide homeowners relief while responsibly funding essential services?
